Demilitarized Zone 1968
Giving thanks to all our veterans who are serving and served protecting our wonderful nation, especially my Daddie.
My dadddie served in the army at the Joint Security Area in Korea as a Military Police Officer. He served back in the ole days when they had the draft and he had no choice about being in the army, he had had to go away from my mommie soon after they were married, they had to be seperated for a long time as couldn't go with him. That period in our nation's history wasn't a pleasant one and many citizens were against the military and had many protest marches. Our servicemen would come home from serving their country and were not treated nicely. Luckly the dad didn't ever have that problem. Never mind the protesters that is another story. Today I especially thank all of our brave soldiers that served our great nation making it a safer place for us to live in. Many of those that served paid with the ultimate price, their life, and they should never ever be forgotten. I would hate to see what this country would be like now if there was no armed forces back then and now. It is unfortunate that the fighting is still in this world as peace would be so much better but it doesn't seem to be near yet.One night when my daddie had to go on patrol an angel was sitting on his shoulder and his life was spared when a terrible thing happened, four others were not so lucky. To this day our family remembers that day and our heart is still heavy with sadness for them. Each and every day we are thankful that he returned safely to our home.
