Our local covered bridge was under attack by a semi truck!!!!
Our local covered bridge, built in 1873, had a semi truck go all the way through it causing $100,000 in damages . . .
The driver of the semi said his GPS took him that way. Of course, he didn't stop when he heard the first crashing of wood but kept on driving through then tried to get away from the accident. Oh did I forget to mention that the truck exceeded the height limit on the bridge? I don't get this at all??!! . . .
We are in disbelief about this happening? Mom said if she read this in a book she wouldn't think it was a good book because that would be something soooooooo stupid no one would do that, guess she is wrong on that thinking. I guess truth is stranger than fiction.

We have heard from the locals that he was in a bar and asked directions. He was given the route that was put in next to the covered bridge to keep heavy traffic off of that road. There is more to this story than we are hearing in the news for sure. Oh, he had no license either.

Gracie, even in my young years I have come to the realisation that the extent of human stupidity remains untested! We must not be too hard on them - they are only humans, after all - we cannot expect them to know what we know and to have the common sense that we do!

That is so sad, the Mom loves old bridges. We hopes it can be fixed. Mommy said GPS are good for smart people who are smart enough to know you don't blindly follow a talking boxes instructions but in the hands of idiots are dangerous things indeed.
What a SHAME... and SHAME on that driver. I hope it gets fixed up.

We have a railroad trestle here, and about twice a year a trucker ignores the height warning and gets a truck stuck under it. So stupid!
Oh no, that's horrible! It's good the driver was caught and hopefully he wouldn't do such thing again.

What a very sad sight! What an idiot! Mom saw a landscaper truck and his huge trailer take out a Burger King drive thru once. She was behind it and was just praying her car would be okay, which is was because she knew what was going to happend and stayed way back.
